Dar com: encontrar. Condizer com. English: find. Match
PT: Tiveram dificuldade em dar com o restaurante? O tecido tem barras a dar com o desenho dos azulejos.
ENG: Did you have trouble finding the restaurant? The fabric has bars to match the designs of the tiles.
Dar para: servir para. Estar situado em frente de (conduzir a, levar a, ter vistas para). Ser suficiente para. English: be useful for, be good at. Be located in front of (lead to, have a view of, overlook). Be enough to.
PT: O jornal dá para embrulhar a embalagem. A porta dá para o jardim. Estas sardinhas não dão para tanta gente.
ENG: The newspaper is useful for wrapping the package. The door leads to the garden. These sardines are not enough for so many people.
Dar-se com: ter uma boa relação com. English: get along with.
PT: O meu irmão dá-se com os meus amigos.
ENG: My brother gets alone with my friends.
Dar em: resultar. English: come to, turn out to be.
PT: Olha no que deu isto. Porque é que deu nisto?
ENG: Look how this turned out. Why did it come to this?
Dar por: aperceber-se de, tomar consciência de. English: realise, notice, become aware of.
PT: Chamaram à porta, mas ele estava dormido e nem deu por isso. Eu fi-lo antes de dar por isso.
ENG: They knock the door but he was asleep and didn't even notice. I did it before I realised that.
